Turner’s What? A strange combination of brain teaser, fidget cube, and tangible connection to the industrial revolution, a turner’s cube is guaranteed to start conversations. According to legend, master machinists would hand their apprentice one of these cubes and challenge them to make one on the manual turning lathe. The lathe operator or “turner” would need to master most skills on the lathe in order to successfully complete the task.
These days a hobby machinist may challenge themselves to make a turner’s cube the old fashioned way or take advantage of modern CNC machining and program a machine to do most of the work.
